VARTA Automotive Product Relaunch: Powersports follows Passenger Car, Heavy Commercial and Leisure – perfectly timed for the new season

The demand for advanced AGM technology continues to grow in the powersports segment as vehicle manufacturers increasingly install batteries in challenging positions inside the vehicle. At the same time, EU Regulation 2019/1148, which prohibits the sale of non-activated batteries with an acid pack, is driving the requirement for factory-activated batteries. To address this development, the former VARTA range around AGM Active, AGM High Performance, and Gel has been consolidated into the new VARTA Powersports AGM Active range, complemented by continuously available VARTA Powersports AGM, SLI Freshpack, and SLI Gardening options.

The VARTA AGM Active battery delivers maximum performance and flexible mounting – a crucial advantage for motorcycle drivers. Designed for extreme durability and sustained power, it offers a cycle life up to three times longer than that of conventional batteries, even under the toughest off-road conditions. The batteries are also particularly vibration-resistant and maintenance free. Especially in modern Powersports applications, which need to power a variety of electrical devices such as ABS, traction control, navigation systems, heated grips, or USB ports, high power delivery is essential. The batteries come factory-filled and are leak-proof, instantly ready to use.

The VARTA AGM Active can be installed at angles of up to 90 degrees without compromising performance or safety. This is crucial for motorcycles, All-Terrain-Vehicles (ATVs), Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs), jet-skis, and snowmobiles. With a total of 29 VARTA Powersports AGM Active models, VARTA covers a broad spectrum of applications, including 17 newly added types for even better market coverage.

With the new VARTA Powersports portfolio, we focus on clear and intuitive orientation: Navigation by Technology. A color-coded system makes it easy to select the right battery. Gold represents AGM and AGM Active – the premium solution, and exceptionally robust. Blue identifies SLI – delivering stable performance and solid durability. This color coding ensures quick product identification, reduces complexity in inventory management, and supports dealers in efficient sales – even across digital channels.
