Supporting the First Responders in Our Communities

For most of us, a dead battery is an inconvenience. For first responders, it can literally be a matter of life and death.

Fire and rescue, EMS, and police officers know that minutes matter. When the call comes in, they need to respond instantly, jumping into their vehicles and racing to support those in need, without worrying about whether the engine will start.

That's where Clarios' Behind the Brave initiative comes in.

Powering the Front Lines

Behind the Brave is how we show up for the communities where we live and work. Through battery donations, vehicle support, and local partnerships, we help ensure the fleets first responders depend on are ready at a moment's notice.

As the global leader in low-voltage battery manufacturing, powering 1 in 3 vehicles worldwide, we know what it takes to keep vehicles running. Police, fire, and EMS vehicles place greater demands on a 12-volt battery than almost any other vehicle on the road. In addition to normal vehicle operation, they power emergency lighting, radios, mobile computers, cameras, and sirens.

"Our mission is to save lives and protect property," said Matt English, Canby Fire Division Chief. "Without the proper battery equipment, we wouldn't be able to do that."

Showing Up for Our Communities

Our program started in St. Joseph, Missouri. Not only do we have a distribution center there, we have deep roots in the community. Our employees demonstrate our values every day, and we work hard to care for our people both inside and outside of work. In fact, many of our own team members serve on the front lines as volunteer firefighters, reserve officers, and EMTs.

"First responders are critical elements of the community," said Igor Rusetskiy, director of operations at the St. Joseph facility. "We're proud to have them in our community and also on our team."

What began in St. Joseph is now expanding nationwide. Toledo, Ohio, and Canby, Oregon, are proud Behind the Brave partners. In the coming months, the initiative will expand to every Clarios community across the United States.

When Minutes Matter, Clarios Is There

Whether it's a firefighting crew racing to contain a blaze, an EMT responding to someone in need, or a police officer helping guide people to safety, every second counts. First responders depend on vehicles that can get them where they need to be — fast — and that starts with a battery you can rely on.

As Chief Matt English noted, "Readiness starts before the emergency." We're proud to play a role in keeping those emergency vehicles ready to respond and supporting the communities we serve.
