As the Battle of Flowers Parade moved through downtown San Antonio, thousands of spectators lined the streets—families, veterans, and Fiesta regulars gathered to celebrate one of the city’s most cherished traditions.

The 135th annual parade commemorates the Battle of the Alamo and the generations who have carried forward its legacy. Among the floats honoring Texas history this year was Clarios’ first appearance in the parade, with a float titled Forged by Legacy, Driven by Possibilities. The float was brought to life by Clarios veterans and members of VOLT (Veterans and Others Leading Together) Employee Resource Group, who proudly rode on the float in recognition of service, leadership, and driving possibilities forward within Clarios and their communities.

Inspired by the parade theme From Pages to Possibilities, the Clarios float centered around an open book—symbolizing the enduring stories of the Alamo and the history that continues to shape San Antonio today.

Rising from the pages of that book was a 1941 military Jeep. Its rugged silhouette was instantly recognizable. The Jeep served as a tribute to the generations of service members—whose leadership continues long after their time in uniform—as well as the veterans within Clarios who bring those values into their work every day.

The day before the parade, U.S. Army veteran and leader of Clarios VOLT Employee Resource Group, Dean Nemecek, recognized fellow veterans participating in the parade at the Army PaYS Signing Ceremony. Each received Clarios’ inaugural Battle of Flowers challenge coin.

Challenge coins have long been a symbol of respect and camaraderie within the military. For the veterans present that day, the coins represented appreciation from colleagues who value their service and the leadership they bring to the workplace.

Clarios is committed to supporting veterans and active service members transitioning to the energy storage industry. Through initiatives such as the DoD SkillBridge program, the U.S. Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) Program, mentorship opportunities and partnerships supporting Army Reserve members through the Private Public Partnership (P3), Clarios helps service members transition their skills and leadership into civilian careers.

Arthur Cross, Supply Chain Supervisor and Veteran, reflected on the moment:

“Seeing Clarios show up in the community creates real pride. It reinforces that this is a company that genuinely supports those who have served—not just in words, but through meaningful action.”

When the float entered the parade route, that sense of appreciation moved from a quiet moment of recognition to a shared community celebration—seen and felt by families, veterans, and spectators lining the streets.

The float passed in minutes, but the message behind it carries much further—reflecting how Clarios, as a great American battery manufacturer, is shaped by legacy, powered by people, and focused on powering possibilities.
